Ingredients
- 1/2 cup red wine (120ml, approx 1/6 bottle)
- 1/2 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 star anise
- 2-3 cloves
- 1.50 pieces orange rind
- 1/2 tablespoon sugar (plus more to taste, if needed)
- 1 tablespoon orange juice
- 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- Combine red wine, cinnamon stick, star anise, cloves, orange rind, sugar, orange juice, and water in a small pan.
- Warm the mixture over a medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until steaming, but do not let it boil.
- Allow the flavors to infuse for at least 10 minutes, ideally closer to 20 minutes, ensuring the sugar dissolves.
- Remove the spices and orange rind from the pan.
- Serve the mulled wine warm, topped with orange slices if desired, and adjust sweetness with additional sugar or honey to taste.
