Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup cranberry juice
  • 1/3 cup apple juice
  • 2 1/2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1/2 tsp honey
  • Orange slices
  • 1/4 inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 1/4 cloves
  • 1/4 bay leaf
  • 1/8 oz dried ginger
  • 1/4 tsp orange peel, zested
  • A small pinch of nutmeg
  • 5 cardamom pods

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine honey and orange juice. Simmer until the mixture thickens to a syrupy consistency.
  2. Add the mulling spices and all the other juices. Bring to a boil and then simmer for five minutes.
  3. Turn off the heat and let the mixture rest for 2 hours to allow the spices to infuse.
  4. Strain the spice-infused mixture, reserving the cinnamon stick, orange slices, and star anise for garnishing into glasses.
  5. Ladle the mulled wine into glasses and add the garnish before serving.
