Ingredients

  • 3 oz chilled merlot or other red wine
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Mulling Spice Blend
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
  • 2 oz frozen unsweetened strawberries
  • 1/4 orange, thinly sliced and cut in half
  • 3 oz club soda

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup of the wine, sugar, and mulling spice blend. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes.
  2. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool. Discard the mulling spice blend sachet.
  3. Pour the cooled mixture into a pitcher, and add the remaining wine. Chill thoroughly.
  4. Add the fresh orange juice, frozen strawberries, and orange slices to the pitcher.
  5. Just before serving, pour in the club soda and gently stir to combine.
