Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup cream of coconut
- 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk
- pinch of salt
- 1/2 vanilla bean, split and scraped or 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 2 tablespoons rum
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cream of coconut, coconut milk, evaporated milk, pinch of salt, nutmeg (if using), and cinnamon stick.
- Place the mixture over medium-low heat and stir until well combined and just starting to simmer.
- Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to steep for 30-45 minutes.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla bean (if used), then stir in the rum.
- Pour the coquito into a serving container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until well chilled.
- Serve chilled neat or over ice. Enjoy!
