Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup cream of coconut
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup evaporated milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 vanilla bean, split and scraped or 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons rum

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cream of coconut, coconut milk, evaporated milk, pinch of salt, nutmeg (if using), and cinnamon stick.
  2. Place the mixture over medium-low heat and stir until well combined and just starting to simmer.
  3. Remove the mixture from heat and allow it to steep for 30-45 minutes.
  4. Remove the cinnamon stick and vanilla bean (if used), then stir in the rum.
  5. Pour the coquito into a serving container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until well chilled.
  6. Serve chilled neat or over ice. Enjoy!
