A delightful twist on the classic shandy, the Summer Shandy Spritz combines light and crisp beer with homemade zesty lemonade for a refreshing and invigorating drink.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup homemade lemonade
- Chilled beer (such as pale ale)
- Lemon slice for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Add four wide strips of lemon zest to the syrup and let it cool for 30 minutes.
- Strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve into a small pitcher.
- Add 2 sprigs of mint, 1 cup of fresh lemon juice, and 2 cups of cold water to the pitcher, stirring to combine.
- Chill the lemonade until cold, at least 2 hours. (Makes about 4 1/2 cups.)
- To make 1 drink, pour 1/4 cup of lemonade into a chilled glass and top off with chilled beer.
- Taste and add more lemonade if desired. Garnish with a lemon slice (if using).
