Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tsp instant coffee
  • 1/2 inch fresh ginger
  • 1/2 of a 2.75-inch cinnamon stick
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 1 1/3 cups boiling water
  • 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
  • Crushed ice
  • 2 tbsp Kahlua liqueur (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large heatproof jug, combine the instant coffee, fresh ginger, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
  2. Stir in the boiling water and set aside to cool completely.
  3. Strain the coffee mixture through a fine sieve into a clean jug, discarding the ginger, cinnamon stick, and cloves.
  4. Add the sweetened condensed milk to the jug and stir until well combined.
  5. Fill a serving glass with crushed ice.
  6. Pour the coffee mixture over the ice and add Kahlua, if desired.
  7. Stir well to combine and serve immediately.
