Ingredients

  • 2 oz. gin
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 oz. simple syrup (1:1, see headnote)
  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters (optional)
  • Mint leaf, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine gin, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, mint leaves, and Angostura bitters, if using.
  2. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, or until frosted on the outside.
  3. Double strain the mixture into a coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a mint leaf.
  5. For an East Side variation, muddle a few cucumber slices with the mint and garnish with a fresh cucumber slice.
  6. To make a highball version, serve over fresh ice in a highball glass and top with club soda.
