Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 black tea bag
  • 8 oz carbonated water or sparkling rose wine
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: Fresh raspberries and basil leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine raspberries, sugar, basil, and lime juice. Mash the berries and cook over medium heat for about 7 minutes until the berries release their juices.
  2. Remove from heat, add the tea bag, cover, and let it steep for 20 minutes. Then strain the mixture, discarding the tea bag and raspberry seeds. Transfer the tea to a pitcher and refrigerate until serving.
  3. Just before serving, slowly add the carbonated water or wine to the pitcher and stir gently.
  4. Serve the cocktail over ice and garnish with fresh raspberries and basil leaves if desired.
