Ingredients
- 1/16 cup sugar
- 1/16 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon chopped orange zest
- Pinch of salt
- 3/8 cup blood orange soda or sparkling citrus soda (such as Orangina)
- 1/16 cup gin
- 1/32 cup sweet vermouth
- 1/32 cup Campari
- Blood orange slices for garnish
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the sugar, water, chopped orange zest, and a pinch of salt to create a simple syrup. Stir until the sugar dissolves, approximately 5 minutes.
- In a separate container, combine the blood orange soda, gin, sweet vermouth, Campari, and the previously prepared simple syrup.
- Pour the mixture into a 3-quart baking dish, cover it, and place it in the freezer until it becomes solid, which will take about 8 hours or overnight.
- Once solid, use a fork to scrape the granita into a fluffy texture. Scoop into serving dishes and garnish with blood orange slices.
