Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup red wine (Bread and Butter Pinot Noir)
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 of a star anise pod
  • 1/3 package raspberry-flavored gelatin (such as Raspberry Jell-O Gelatin Dessert)
  • 3/4 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 cup chilled pulp-free orange juice
  • 1/4 cup chilled cinnamon whiskey (Fireball Cinnamon Whisky)
  • 3 whole cranberries, for garnish
  • 1 orange slice, quartered, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, gently heat 1/4 cup red wine with cloves, cinnamon stick, and star anise pod for 1 hour on low heat. Do not allow the wine to simmer. Remove from heat and strain out the cloves, cinnamon stick, and star anise.
  2. Add enough fresh red wine to the strained liquid to make a total of 2/3 cup. Set aside.
  3. In a small heatproof bowl, whisk together the boiling water and raspberry gelatin until completely dissolved. Add the mulled wine, orange juice, and cinnamon whiskey, and whisk until combined.
  4. Pour the prepared mulled wine gelatin into shot glasses and refrigerate for 4 hours, or until set.
  5. Top with whole cranberries and quartered orange slices for garnish.
