Ingredients

  • 2 wedges of lime
  • 1/2 oz lime juice (1 Tbsp)
  • 1 Tbsp sugar
  • 5-8 mint leaves
  • Ice
  • 2 oz white rum (4 Tbsp)
  • Lime-flavored sparkling water or club soda

Instructions

  1. Place mint and sugar in a sturdy, short glass.
  2. Add lime wedges and lime juice to the glass, then muddle to release more juice and extract flavor from the lime.
  3. Gently muddle the mint to release its aroma, being careful not to crush, rip, or tear the leaves.
  4. Fill the glass with ice and pour the white rum over the ice.
  5. Top off the glass with lime-flavored sparkling water or club soda.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of mint and serve.
