Ingredients

  • 1 mini peppermint candy cane, crushed, for the rim
  • 1 3/4 oz vodka
  • ice
  • 7 tbsp caster sugar
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, heat the caster sugar and 1/2 cup water over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in the peppermint extract, and let the syrup cool completely.
  3. Crush the candy cane and place it in a shallow dish.
  4. Dip the rim of a martini glass in water, then in the crushed candy cane.
  5. In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 tbsp of the peppermint syrup, vodka, and ice, and stir until the shaker feels very cold.
  6. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass and serve.
