Ingredients
- 1 lime, cut into four pieces, juice of 1 lime, and lime wedges, for garnish
- 1 tbsp. light or dark brown sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 4 basil leaves
- 2 sprigs mint, plus additional for garnish
- 1.50 oz. Bulleit Bourbon
- Crushed ice
Instructions
- In a cocktail shaker, muddle the lime pieces, lime juice, brown sugar, salt, basil, and mint vigorously to release the aromatics from the herbs and juice from the lime.
- Add bourbon and enough ice to fill the cocktail shaker, then shake vigorously until the mixture is well-chilled.
- Strain the mixture, preferably using a Hawthorne strainer to retain some of the herbs and citrus pulp, into a julep glass filled with crushed ice.
- Garnish with lime wedges and sprigs of mint.
