Ingredients

  • 2 oz rye or bourbon
  • 3/4 oz Grand Marnier or orange curaçao
  • 2 dashes absinthe or pastis
  • 1/4 oz grenadine
  • 1/4 oz lemon juice (optional)
  • 1 egg white

Instructions

  1. Combine rye (or bourbon), Grand Marnier, absinthe (or pastis), grenadine, and optional lemon juice in a cocktail shaker without ice.
  2. Add the egg white to the shaker and shake vigorously for 15 seconds to blend all ingredients.
  3. Fill the shaker 2/3 full with ice and shake again, vigorously, until the egg white is frothy and the drink is well-chilled, approximately 30 seconds.
  4. Strain the drink into a chilled coupe glass.
