Ingredients

  • 5 oz full-bodied red wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1/4 cup apple cider
  • 2 tbsp bourbon
  • 1 tbsp sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon extract
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 cloves
  • 3 star anise
  • 1/2 cup sliced apple
  • Ice, as needed

Instructions

  1. In a gallon-size container with a lid, combine the red wine, apple cider, bourbon, sugar (if using), cinnamon extract, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and sliced apples.
  2. Stir well to dissolve the sugar.
  3. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably 24 to 48 hours for optimal flavor infusion.
