Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Guinness stout
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 2 oz chopped dark chocolate
  • 1 oz Irish cream liqueur
  • 1 oz Irish whiskey

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium-high heat, cook the Guinness until it reduces to about 1/2 cup, creating a syrupy consistency, for approximately 10 minutes. Set the syrup aside.
  2. In a separate medium saucepan, combine the cocoa, sugar, salt, milk, and chocolate. Heat over medium, stirring constantly until the chocolate is fully melted and incorporated.
  3. Add the Irish cream, the reserved stout syrup, and the whiskey to the chocolate mixture. Stir to combine.
  4. When ready to serve, froth the hot chocolate using a hand blender, milk frother, or a whisk until desired frothiness is achieved. Serve hot.
