Ingredients
- 4.20 oz Red wine (good quality)
- 0.80 oz Ruby Port
- 0.55 oz Soft Brown Sugar
- 2 Star Anise
- 1/4 tsp Cloves
- 1.50 Bay Leaves
- 1 Cinnamon Stick (broken in half)
- 1/2 inch Fresh ginger
- 1/6 Orange (cut into segments)
Instructions
- In a large pan over low heat, combine the port and wine.
- Add the sugar and allow it to dissolve completely.
- Add the star anise, cloves, bay leaves, and broken cinnamon sticks to the pan.
- Place the piece of fresh ginger into the pan and let the wine warm through for 5 minutes, ensuring it does not boil.
- Transfer the warm mulled wine into heat-proof glasses and serve. Alternatively, allow the wine to sit for two hours to infuse the flavors, then reheat and serve.
