Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 6 bruised sage leaves, including stems
  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce pear juice
  • 1/4 ounce ginger-sage simple syrup
  • 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the water, sugar, ginger, and bruised sage leaves.
  2. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves, then remove from the heat and allow the syrup to cool completely.
  3. Once cooled, strain the ginger-sage simple syrup into an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator until ready for use.
  4. In an ice-filled cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, pear juice, ginger-sage simple syrup, lemon juice, and orange bitters.
  5. Shake vigorously and strain the mixture into a coupe glass to serve.
