Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 2-inch wide piece grapefruit peel
  • Pinch of kosher salt
  • 1 shot gin
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • Ice
  • 1/4 cup grapefruit juice
  • Sparkling water
  • Sliced grapefruit for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the sugar, grapefruit peel, and salt until fragrant and the sugar clumps.
  2. Add the gin, water, and a scoop of ice to the shaker. Shake until cold.
  3. Fill a glass half full with ice and pour in the grapefruit juice.
  4. Strain the shaken drink on top of the juice.
  5. Top off with sparkling water and garnish with a slice of grapefruit if desired.
