Ingredients

  • 1 large egg, separated
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons French cognac
  • Freshly grated nutmeg for garnish

Instructions

  1. Beat the egg yolk until thick and creamy.
  2. Add sugar and continue beating until very light and fluffy.
  3. Add a pinch of salt and mix well.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Heat the milk, cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Do not boil.
  6. Slowly whisk the hot milk mixture into the beaten egg yolks.
  7. Add the beaten egg whites and cognac, stirring gently to incorporate.
