Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 2 tbsp minced or grated fresh ginger root
  • 2 tbsp fresh cranberries
  • 4 tbsp unsweetened cranberry juice
  • Ice
  • 2 oz mead

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, bring honey to a boil and cook until it turns dark amber.
  2. Gradually add orange juice, then stir in ginger and let it steep.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a blender, blend, and strain through a fine-mesh strainer.
  4. Char the cranberries in a skillet, then transfer them to a pitcher.
  5. Add the honey-ginger syrup and cranberry juice to the pitcher and cool completely.
  6. Fill a highball glass with ice, add the drink base and top with mead. Stir gently and serve.
