Ingredients

  • Zest of 2 clementines
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 1/2 vanilla pod, split in half lengthways
  • 2 oz vodka
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 oz clemencello
  • 1/2 oz fresh orange juice
  • 1 egg white
  • Clementine peel twist, for garnish
  • Star anise, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place the clementine zest, cinnamon stick, star anise, vanilla, and vodka in a large sealable jar. Seal and let it infuse for 5 days, shaking the jar daily.
  2. Boil water and sugar in a pan until dissolved. Let it cool, then pour it into the jar with the vodka mix. Reseal and leave for 9 days.
  3. Sieve the clemencello into a sealable bottle for use.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine the clemencello, orange juice, and egg white. Shake well.
  5. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until it becomes very cold.
  6. Strain into a glass and garnish with a clementine peel twist and star anise.
