Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup water
  • 3 oz cream soda
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons butterscotch syrup
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 oz spiced rum
  • Whipped cream, for serving
  • Gold sanding sugar, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a small pot, combine water, cream soda, brown sugar, butter, 1 tablespoon butterscotch syrup, cinnamon stick, vanilla, and salt.
  2. Cook over low heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture is warm and the butter is melted.
  3. Remove the cinnamon stick and pour the mixture into a mug.
  4. Stir in the spiced rum.
