Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp cold water
  • 1/4 ounce Mexican cinnamon sticks (about 1 stick)
  • 1 whole clove
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 tbsp freshly brewed strong coffee, cold
  • 3 tbsp Chilean pisco
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, water, cinnamon sticks, and cloves. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Allow the syrup, including the spices, to cool to room temperature.
  2. Transfer the syrup to a large pitcher, then add the milk, coffee, pisco, and vanilla. Stir well to combine.
  3. Cover the pitcher with plastic wrap and refrigerate until chilled, preferably for a few hours or overnight.
  4. Pour about 1/2 cup of the punch into small tumbler glasses and serve very cold, either with Christmas cookies, stollen, or Chilean-style fruitcake (pan de pascua).
