Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 ounces dark rum, divided
  • 1/2 ounce orange liqueur
  • 1/4 cup butternut squash puree
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • Juice of 2 lemon wedges
  • 5 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Garnish: cinnamon and sugar rim

Instructions

  1. Combine the sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  2. In a separate shallow bowl, pour 1/2 ounce of rum.
  3. Dip the rim of a double-rocks glass into the rum and then into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat, then set aside.
  4. In a cocktail shaker, combine the butternut squash puree, remaining 1 1/2 ounces of rum, orange liqueur, simple syrup, lemon juice, and Angostura bitters. Stir to combine.
  5. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until well-chilled.
  6. Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass.
