Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 ounces dark rum, divided
  • 1/2 ounce orange liqueur
  • 1/4 cup butternut squash puree
  • 1/2 ounce simple syrup
  • 2 freshly squeezed lemon wedges
  • 5 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Garnish: cinnamon and sugar rim

Instructions

  1. In a shallow bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon. In another shallow bowl, add 1/2 ounce of rum.
  2. Dip the rim of a double-rocks glass into the rum, then into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat, and set aside.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine the butternut squash puree, remaining 1 1/2 ounces of rum, orange liqueur, simple syrup, bitters, and the juice of 2 lemon wedges, and quickly stir to combine.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice, then shake until well-chilled.
  5. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass.
