Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 oz freshly squeezed blood orange juice
  • 1/2 oz honey syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz whiskey
  • 1 egg white
  • A few dashes of orange bitters
  • Garnish: blood orange slice

Instructions

  1. To make honey syrup, combine water and honey in a small saucepan over medium low heat. Simmer and stir occasionally for five minutes to thin out the honey.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk the egg white until it becomes foamy, approximately 10 seconds.
  3. In a cocktail shaker, combine blood orange juice, honey syrup, whiskey, and a few dashes of orange bitters.
  4. Add half of the whisked egg white to the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
  5. Fill the cocktail shaker with ice and shake further.
  6. Strain the cocktail, including the foam, into a chilled cocktail glass.
  7. Garnish with a blood orange slice.
