Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces mezcal
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau
  • 2 ounces blood orange juice
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • Tajin salt (for rimming the glass)
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. Rim the glass with Tajin salt. Run a lime slice around the rim of your glass and dip it into Tajin salt spread on a plate.
  2. Juice the blood oranges to obtain 2 ounces of juice per cocktail.
  3. Shake the Blood Orange Smoky Margarita. Fill a shaker with ice and add the mezcal, Cointreau, blood orange juice, lime juice, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously until the shaker starts to frost up.
  4. Pour the cocktail into the glass, including the ice, and garnish with a fresh blood orange slice.
