Ingredients

  • 10 fresh blackberries
  • 1 tablespoon superfine sugar
  • 1/2 oz elderflower liqueur, such as St-Germain
  • 1/2 oz blanco tequila
  • Ice
  • 4 oz pinot noir
  • 1/4 cup lemon-flavored soda or blackberry-flavored seltzer, optional
  • Blackberries, lemon wheel, fresh rosemary sprig, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a glass, muddle the blackberries with the sugar until crushed and juicy.
  2. Add the elderflower liqueur and tequila, and stir until the sugar dissolves, creating a dark syrup.
  3. Fill the glass with ice and pour in the pinot noir.
  4. If desired, strain the blackberry syrup through a fine-mesh strainer into the glass, pressing gently on the leftover solids to extract as much liquid as possible.
  5. Optionally, top with the soda or seltzer to taste.
  6. Garnish with blackberries, a lemon wheel, and a sprig of rosemary, if desired.
