Ingredients

  • 3 fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 navel orange, thinly sliced into half-moons
  • 3 oz Dubonnet Rouge or other sweet fortified red wine, chilled
  • Ice
  • 2 oz seltzer, chilled

Instructions

  1. Gently muddle basil and orange with a spoon or muddler until basil is lightly bruised but aromatic.
  2. Stir in the wine and let it sit for at least 15 minutes and up to 2 hours.
  3. Pour the mixture over ice in a glass.
  4. Top with seltzer and serve immediately.
