Balsamic Buzz Spritzer

An invigorating and tangy sparkling balsamic vinegar-espresso shrub, sweetened with agave and maple syrup, and finished with chilled sparkling water. A unique, coffee-inspired spritzer with a refreshing kick of caffeine.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp coarsely ground espresso coffee
  • 1 1/2 tbsp agave syrup
  • 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 4 oz chilled sparkling water
  • Ice

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the balsamic vinegar with the coarsely ground espresso coffee and 1/2 cup of water.
  2. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for a minimum of 6 hours, or preferably overnight.
  3. Pour the liquid through a fine sieve lined with cheesecloth into another bowl.
  4. Stir in the agave and maple syrups.
  5. Store the coffee shrub in an airtight glass container in the refrigerator for up to 4 weeks.
  6. To serve, fill a chilled 12-oz. glass with ice.
  7. Add 1 1/2 tbsp of coffee shrub to the glass.
  8. Top with 4 oz of chilled sparkling water.
  9. Stir to combine and enjoy!
