Ingredients
- 2/3 cup apple cider
- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 1/3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 oz whiskey or bourbon
- orange rind, for garnish

Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine apple cider, brown sugar, lemon juice, ginger, and a cinnamon stick. Bring to a low simmer and cook for about 10 minutes.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into an airtight container and refrigerate until cooled. (This mixture can be refrigerated for up to three days.)
