Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 oz cinnamon simple syrup
  • 2 oz apple cider
  • 1.50 oz vodka
  • 0.50 oz orange liqueur (such as Cointreau)
  • 0.75 oz fresh lime or lemon juice (approximately 1/2 lime or 1/4 lemon)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water over medium heat.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer and add the cinnamon stick.
  3. Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup cool with the cinnamon stick steeping in it.
  5. Transfer the cooled cinnamon syrup into a mason jar or airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for later use if not making the cocktail immediately.
  6. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the cooled cinnamon syrup, apple cider, vodka, orange liqueur, and lime or lemon juice.
  7. Cover the shaker and shake the mixture vigorously for 30 seconds until well combined and thoroughly chilled.
  8. Strain the mixture into a martini glass and serve. Optionally, garnish with apple slices or cinnamon sticks.
