Ingredients

  • 1/2 Honeycrisp apple, cored and thinly sliced
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick (about 2-3 inches long)
  • 6 oz red wine like Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, or Malbec
  • 1 oz brandy (or rum for a gluten-free option)
  • 1 oz 7Up or Sprite (or soda water for a less sweet option)
  • 1 oz soda water
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Core and thinly slice the apple. Place the apple slices and cinnamon stick in a pitcher.
  2. Enclose the cloves in a tea infuser or tie them in a piece of cheesecloth for easy removal. Add them to the pitcher.
  3. Pour the brandy and red wine into the pitcher with the apples and spices. Stir gently to combine, then cover the pitcher with plastic wrap.
  4. Refrigerate the mixture overnight to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. Just before serving, add the 7Up (or soda water) and soda water to the pitcher. Give the sangria a gentle stir to incorporate the added soda.
  6. Serve the Apple Sangria over ice and enjoy!
